Sparta Global

A modern new website with strong user journeys that's quick to update, well integrated with your current tools and has a high level of automation to help your marketing efforts.

Who am I?

Hi, I'm James, founder of Onward Studios. It's a digital agency with a simple mission: I want to make your website successful and stress-free.

For Sparta Global that means having a trusted source of expertise on all web issues. It means having someone who can deal with your planning, user experience, design, development, hosting and support all in one place. It means having a site built specially for your needs, that’s as easy to update as using a word processor. It means having someone keep a constant eye on the latest web technologies to find new ways to make your site work better for you.

It means that you can focus on what you’re best at — your business.

A new approach to perfecting your website

The online world advances too quickly for a build-it-and-leave-it approach to creating websites. I work as a partner with my customers, building an ongoing relationship of continuous improvement.

I offer this with a subscription-based Growth Plan, allowing you to get started with a brand new, custom-designed website without the large upfront development costs required from other companies. A single monthly fee covers hosting, support and regular monthly development of your online marketing to improve its ability to attract visitors and turn them into your customers.

For organisations that have shorter-term requirements, I also offer a Fixed Price option and a traditional Pay as You Go model. Quotes for these options are included at the end of this proposal.

My suggestions for

Sparta Global

Having reviewed your current online marketing and found out about your goals, here’s what I’d suggest to maximise your online effectiveness.

Your goals

  • A clean new look and feel that emphasises professionalism
  • A site that’s fully accessible with a clear user experience
  • Integrate with your existing tools to reduce repetitive data entry work
  • Make sure the site is easy to update with new content and isn’t locked in to a specific developer
  • Options to integrate a careers system and future online learning system with a consistent look and feel

How to achieve them

  • Build a new design system for Sparta's online presence, emphasising lightness, space and authenticity, with an expanded colour palette.
  • Build to accessibility best standards to ensure ease of use for visitors with visual challenges, dyslexia, those using screen readers and make the site adaptive to all types of device and screen size.
  • Integrate site forms with Salesforce and Teachable, as well as using Zapier to automate tasks and save you time.
  • Plan clear user journeys for your two primary visitor types and build a site UX to make them clear and easy to follow.
  • Build the site on the fast, secure Webflow platform with CMS collections for every type of content you’ll want to add. The site and all its content will remain transferable to an in-house or other external developer at any time (including content export to other CMS platforms if desired).
  • Integrate Careers and Online Learning sections into the site to give a consistent user experience. Automate pulling through of vacancies and courses via service APIs to allow them to be promoted on the main site.

Results Driven Design

I use a design methodology that’s different: agile, data-driven and continuously improving.

While traditional approaches to website design would involve a new ~3 month development cycle every couple of years that results in a whole new website, I build using an innovative new approach based on Results Driven Design, which uses agile methodologies to build a data driven website that is constructed with adaptability and flexibility in mind.

In simple terms, the old, traditional approach means you spend 3 months building your best guess at what customers want, then have to live with it for 2 years before starting the whole process again. Results Driven Design, by contrast, can get a launch pad website up and running in a matter of weeks. Further features are then added regularly, justified and tested using live analytics data, ensuring your site becomes a continuously evolving marketing platform.

How it would work

My website plans runs in two phases: the launch and the improvement cycle.

The Launch

Both subscription and pay-as-you-go plans start with the Launch Phase. This is where I work with you to plan, design, build, test and launch your website.

  • For projects on my Growth Plan, this usually takes 8 weeks, with the first version of the site going live at the end of week 6.
  • For my Fixed Price and Pay as You Go options, the completed site goes live in 8 - 12 weeks, or can be broken into phases to get the vital pages live first.

I work with you to build a wish list for everything you want your site to accomplish, then determine the launch-critical items for the first version of the site.

I use a design process called Live Prototyping. Rather than seeing static pictures of web designs, you’ll instead always get a working website that adapts to all devices so you can get a proper feel for the User Experience (UX). Your feedback will be used to make changes to the prototype, allowing for rapid improvements as we get your site ready for its public launch.

Improvement Cycle

Once the site has launched and we’ve finished the post-launch polishing, the Growth Plan moves into the monthly improvement cycle based on Results Driven Design.

Throughout each month I’ll add ideas to your wish list based on your current business needs. We’ll have a call at the beginning of each month to review the site’s effectiveness so you can decide which items on your wish list we’ll work on next.

My Growth Plan is all-inclusive. That means that any web design, development and maintenance gets scheduled in at no extra cost.

Collaboration

I believe that partnerships thrive on trust, so everything I do is transparent and collaborative.

I want you to feel completely at ease with your website project from day one. My whole approach to working is built on collaborative tools so that you’ll always be completely in the loop.

The Project Board

I manage our projects on visual project boards which give you an instant overview of how everything is progressing as well as letting us all ask questions and make comments. I’ll set up as many people in your company as you like on the system so that everyone’s in the loop all the time.

Need to give a progress report to your team? Just log in at any time to show them the realtime status of the project. You’ll always see everything I see — completely open reporting.

The Shared Folder

Every document, every graphic and every piece of content created for your project belongs to you, so I give you access to our shared folder that contains everything I'm using to build your site. I write content with you in collaborative documents that we can all edit. Just let me know who needs access and we’ll get it all set up.

The Website Editor

Right from the prototype stage you’ll be able to write and edit text on your website with the easy to use on-page editor. As I build the site you’ll be able to start adding new pages like news stories and blogs, getting a head start on fleshing out your site ready for launch.

GDPR & Legal Compliance

As websites grow more complex and customer privacy becomes ever more important, it's vital that your business's online presence protects your users and your company. I'll work with you to scope out the requirements of GDPR and other consent compliance legislation, helping you to identify necessary third party services for cookie consent and forms, while setting up a dedicated area of your site for legal policies.

Site hosting & backup

Webflow sites work best when paired with Webflow's own hosting to provide fast load times, high levels of security, class-leading uptime and full CMS functionality. You can host the site on your own Webflow account once it's live, giving you full control over the content and who has access.

Site speed is absolutely vital for maintaining user engagement. Your site will be hosted and delivered via the Webflow Tier 1 Content Delivery Network, Amazon Cloudfront, and Fastly. With over 50 data centres and thousands of servers around the world serving your website, every single one of your users will have a responsive, snappy experience.

The Content Management System automatically backs up the entire site, storing multiple versions in Amazon’s S3 cloud storage, so you’ll never lose your work and can roll back to previous versions if you ever need to. The distributed nature of the content delivery network makes system-wide failure a vanishingly small likelihood, while 99.99% uptime and ISO 27018 compliance mean your site is always available, secure and worry-free. And in case the 0.01% happens, a cached version of your site will immediately be served from Cloudflare’s network until the main site is back up and running, meaning your visitors have no break in service.

Fees & Timescales

My recommended plan for Sparta Global is highlighted below, along with your other options.

If you need some pages designed on your Webflow site or if you have designs you want built, PAYG may be the option for you.

£
Hosting & support from £195 / month

Growth Plan

All-inclusive website design for ongoing growth.
Unlimited website design & development, including and technical support. Unlimited copywriting and stock images for web pages.
12 month minimum term.

6 WEEKS TO v1 SITE LAUNCH

£
2450
/ month

All inclusive site design & development, making sure you can get the site you want without worrying about increasing costs.

6 WEEKS TO v1 SITE LAUNCH

Recommendation

For the size of website we've talked about, the Fixed Price option is probably best for you. You'll get your new site designed and built for a fixed cost and get a year of hosting and technical support included. We'd have the option to launch the site in stages if that'll help with your plans.

Notes & Terms

Frontend site to be developed on the Webflow CMS platform and will be constructed in a manner so that the majority of content update activities can be performed by the Client.

Client to provide all web text content. Content can be copywritten by Onward Studios from bullet point notes. Text content is a prerequisite for the design of any individual page template.

Site to be designed with at least (4) four responsive states for: desktop, portrait tablet, landscape smartphone and portrait smartphone devices. Some site designs may also include wider breakpoints for larger screens.

Browser compatibility will be ensured for the latest two versions of Microsoft Edge, Firefox, Chrome, Safari, iOS and Android. Site will be designed to degrade elegantly to earlier browsers where possible, but this cannot be guaranteed.

Onward Studios to provide access to project board to facilitate and aggregate communications with Client.

Onward Studios will respond to all communications within 24 hours on workdays, unless otherwise notified (and subject to reasonable exceptions).

Onward Studios will require one point of contact during the Contract for clarifying requirements for design, key features, usability and maintenance issues. Onward Studios requires this person be available to answer questions arising from the project within 48 hours on workdays (subject to reasonable exceptions), and to have authority to make design and related decisions on the system.

Onward Studios is not responsible for any delay or defect caused by the action or inaction of third parties or the Client’s in-house teams.

All design work includes two review cycles. Further changes requested by the client will be subject to our hourly design rate of £85 / hour.

Onward Studios will provide security updates to the platform and fixes for any bugs or issues raised by the Client for the duration of the Contract. It is the responsibility of the Client to ensure that anyone with Editor access to the website takes reasonable precautions to avoid the upload of unsafe files.

Although Onward Studios makes every effort to provide secure Finished Product(s), due to the nature of rapidly advancing technology, Onward Studios can in no way guarantee that the Finished Product(s) will not be subject to security breaches.

Site will be integrated with Google Analytics and Google Tag Manager by default.

Onward Studios maintains multiple backup versions of the website generated with each publish action. If a site rollback to an earlier version is deemed necessary to correct an issue, Onward Studios is not responsible for any recent site content lost or overwritten.

“Pay-as-you-go” and "Fixed Price" product invoices are payable in a 50/50 split: 50% of the invoice total is payable before any work begins, the remaining 50% is payable when the site is ‘ready for live’. Custom milestone-based payments can be arranged for sites launching in multiple phases.

"Growth Plan" subscription product invoices are payable on an agreed date each calendar month, with the first invoice payable before any work begins. 12-month minimum term. Either party may cancel this Agreement after this time with thirty (30) days written notice. Any requested third party services or licensed content will incur extra costs.
